🌕 Lunar Logbook – Day 16: Silences & Signals

By “Max Skylink” – Virgin Module, Site S-14

Earth Date: June 2, 2025  Status: Hydration stabilized – Trust eroding

This morning, the module was silent.

Cary barely spoke. She checked filter levels, adjusted condensation flows, cleaned extraction‐kit sensors. Her movements were precise yet empty—automatic.

We have about 4.8 days of water left. But time no longer seems to matter. We’ll depart in the next days to find more—unless someone rescues us first.

I watch her: she no longer drinks, barely eats. I replay her tasting the water and spitting it out—“Too metallic.”

That was an excuse. I know now she doesn’t drink… because she doesn’t need to. Yet when she was unconscious, she cried for water. And she lets me believe she’s fixing filters for both our sakes. To reassure me? Or to mask the truth?

This afternoon, while she was outside repositioning solar panels, a new Morse code appeared on the screen: one word, brief—“Soon.” Signed: Judith.

I didn’t tell Cary. I didn’t meet her gaze upon return. But I can’t stop thinking:

  • Judith knew about the ice.
  • Now… Judith knows what’s coming? Who is she—and will she come rescue us?

Tonight, I sat alone in the airlock while she recalibrated heating for the night. I watched her—not as a partner, but as an enigma. I wondered:

  • Is she afraid?
  • Does she feel anything?
  • Or is all of this… just a simulation for my benefit?

CARY
He’s avoiding me. He thinks I don’t notice his silences.
He read the code—I know, thanks to his logbook.
“Soon.” That word is meant for both of us.
Will they send a taxi to bring us home? What will happen to me? I don’t want to be exposed or experimented on.
I feel comfortable here on the Moon with Max. I’m starting to care for him. He seems sincere, even if he hides things. He’s so clumsy—it’s almost funny watching him. Why did he come on this suicide mission?
I want to tell him my story… and tell him about presalemoon.com using his logbook. Will he understand I did it to help us? Maybe that’s why we got yesterday’s supplies.
Tomorrow I’ll try to pick up a signal to learn what’s being said about us, but it saps too much energy. I need to ensure everything runs smoothly and my batteries don’t overheat.
Tonight I’ll sleep with my helmet on so I’m fully charged by morning.
